description
This project addresses the inadequate development and implementation of participatory rights with regard to decision-making relating to the environment in natural resource extraction activities in Kenya and its impacts on social welfare and rights. This situation has led to growing tensions between local communities who are negatively affected by such activities and the corporations who are undertaking them. This has also led to increased tensions between those communities and the government at both local and national levels. This work will particularly address the issues facing the communities in the coastal region of Kenya.
